L'AMANT

Some say accessories do the talking.. and I absolutely stand by that, they really do set your outfit off. I mean, what would be the fun in a monochrome get up if it didn't involve a pair of dreamy Kurt Geiger lobster flats? (They also come in navy too!) They're super comfortable and I'm actually so surprised with how much of my wardrobe they already go with-no need to buy a whole entire wardrobe to justify wearing my new purchased. Score.

It's no hidden fact that I love black, and I always talk time and time again about how important it is to mix your fabrics and your textures to stop your outfit from being bland and boring. This is also the case with this outfit, mixing suede in this incredible studded jacket, black washed denim in my straight leg jeans, and a little bit of leather in my waist belt and key hole shoulder bag. (Which also comes in red and yellow too.)

Investing in your accessories is important, I believe as they get the most worn on a daily basis we really need to look after them and invest correctly, taking into consideration the price, the material and the wear-ability. This Kurt Geiger bag is made from a really soft pebbled leather which will age so incredibly well-quiet like leather jackets do. Being able to wear these accessories during day and come night time is important too, so the adjustable strap will come in super handy doubling up as an evening bag!

WHEN DRESSES MEET TRAINERS

Being self employed has a large amount of benefits, not to mention being your own boss. Another benefit I enjoy is wearing my own clothes; no uniform, no strict dress code.. just me and whatever I fancy slipping into that day. My work wear style is usually a modern/minimal mix - think updated silhouettes with a muted colour palette.

My favourite go-to of late are dresses, it is Spring after all. If it's a new purchase I'm after I'll head straight to Topshop; whether it's a maxi, midi or mini Topshop has something fit for any occasion. This scallop one shoulder dress is a perfect one for evening, not to mention even more perfect for work! I don't have a large evening wear wardrobe so it's important that I can get so much wear out of my pieces.. who doesn't love a day-to-night number?

When I'm working I like to be comfortable, so I'll usually roll up the sleeves of my ring belted blazer or throw on a large bit of knitwear. Add a cool pair of your newest trainers and you've got yourself a modern yet minimal day uniform right there.

HAIR 101

I get so many questions about my hair colour, and the way I style it. So I thought I'd talk you through the steps taken by the amazing team at Sassoon, Kings road to achive my look. If you look through my posts you'll see my hair isn't massively different, I hadn't had my balayage touched since this time last year so it was really grown out! All I wanted was a little refresh, taking the colour up a bit higher towards my jawline just to bring my colour back to life.

The colour: First a Sassoon Professional 'White Up' pre-lightener was used-this is hand painted from the ends of the hair and blended out up towards the roots. The main thing is to make sure you create a seamless blend from one colour to the other.  Some section through the top were woven then hand painted away from the roots to give a natural and soft finish. After the bleach had processed a semi permanent toner was applied to my hair to give a softer 'Scandinavian blonde' feel to the lightened hair.

The cut; My hair was in pretty good condition considering it had just been bleached, so we only cut a small amount from the length, my hair was then cut to a line below the shoulders and added long layers through the back to give soft movement to the hair.

The style; My hair was blow-dried with Sassoon Professional 'Heat Shape' and 'Halo Hydrate' to give protection from the heat of the drier and hold to the style. Finally a large tong was used through the ends of the hair alternating the sections to give natural movement. (This is what I use at home.) Finally the hair was finished with Sassoon Professional 'Motion Hold' to ensure the style lasted.

Thank you to both Matt and Peter at Sassoon Kings Road for my cut and colour.

THE SPRING ITEMS YOU NEED NOW..

Wow, if the weather this weekend is anything to go by then I best pack up my Winter wardrobe. To be able to walts out the house without a jacket in tow is pretty rare for the UK, especially in April! The weather got me thinking that it's about time I gave you all a little Spring/Summer inspiration. I'm a Winter gal, I enjoy bulky knitwear and oversized coats.. so come warmer weather I'm pretty stuck with what to wear. So if you're out in the 20's wearing a jumper, jeans and fur loafers like me.. here's 4 Spring items you need now.

The Chino

Think of these as a lighter alternative to a pair of cigarette trousers. They're smart, but still casual enough to throw on a tee and sandals and be away. To be completely frank I've never own a pair before-I've always gone from jeans straight into a pair of denim shorts..I've never owned an in between! This mango pair has a slight military vibe, I'm not sure if it's the colour of the metal hardware? These are a paper bag waist so they are quiet trend focuses. From the front they're amazing.. turn side on they are quiet shapely, never the less the attached belt does an amazing job at pulling your waist in!

I've worn a logo tee and faux suede mules to give this look a real on trend vibe.. but they'll look equally as cool worn with a striped Brenton tee and espadrilles once we hit the 20 degrees territory.

The Blouse

A piece we all own. There's no need to rush out and purchase a new blouse-how you wear it will give it a new lease of life. I live in blouse's during this time of year, they're SO easy to wear and they look so chic tucked into a pair of light wash straight leg denim! During colder month's I like to wear my blouses layered underneath silk cami's to get the most wear out of my purchase. A khaki cargo jacket looks equally as cool worn open with a pair of white trainers!

I've worn mine simply with a pair of tan lace up sandals and a straw beach bag - Voila a Spring ready outfit.

The Trench

I'm a sucker for outwear, so naturally this is my favourite piece I've featured in this post.. the trench literally completes my outfit! It's so lightweight so it's not a pain to carry around if I get a little warm, yet it's the perfect piece to pop on to hide away from any chill. It's structured, tailored, belted.. the list goes on! Right now I'm packing away my Winter coats and hanging up my Trench coats, khaki cargo jackets and staple leathers ready for warmer weather!

A plain white tshirt and a pair of light wash jeans are the perfect way to style this coat. It's easy, no stress and so easy to wear. Gucci inspired fur loafers are optional..

The Tea Dress

The tea dress was a massive trend last Season.. and now is the time to dust them down! Again, no need to repurchase unless you're looking for something a little more on trend. I wasn't so sure on them last season as I'm not very girly.. and because I'm only 5"3 I thought they'd make me look quiet young. I was so wrong! They skim my legs perfectly and actually fall at the smallest part of my leg-winning. If you're not too keen on anything too floral or printed, then fear they do also come completely plain! Why not try a floral number paired with a leather jacket and ankle boots to toughen it up?

I'm wearing mine exactly the same way I sported my tea dress last year.. with an oversized knit!
