GENDER FLUIDITYSunday, October 02, 2016
Fashion Week has sadly come to a close in London, and one of my highlights was being offered the amazing opportunity of going backstage at the Faustine Steinmetz show to witness the madness that goes on behind the scenes with TONI&GUY.
"Gender fluidity and individuality was the inspiration behind the hair for the Faustine Steinmetz this season, with every day glamour and youth inspiring experimentation with hair texture." I absolutely loved this hairstyle, it fits my style and the way I dress perfectly-so with that in mind I thought I'd try my hand at recreating this look I saw backstage at London Fashion Week in collaboration with TONI&GUY and the new style fix collection. The new style fix range is for styles as spontaneous as you are, and the handbag size collection is perfect for transforming your look from day to night, or just for topping up on the go!
PREP: Before styling, spritz freshly washed hair with TONI&GUY heat protection mist. Blow dry your hair until dry using a round brush to curl the ends inwards towards your hair.
TIP: Ensure that your hair is blow dried straight in order to smooth any unruly hairs, giving the final look an extra boost of shine.
Starting with dry hair? Use the TONI&GUY style fix straightener to smooth out any kinks before you start the blow drying!
STYLE: To ensure curls last all day long, apply a generous amount of TONI&GUY flexible hold hairspray to the lengths before curling the ends with the TONI&GUY style fix curler. This handbag sized curler is perfect for glamorous waves on the go in an instant, transforming any look from day to night with this curler. (Don't worry, the performance is still the same as the full size, it's just packed into a compact!)
If it's beachy waves you are after then I'd suggest checking out the TONI&GUY style fix waver!
FINISH: Remove all clips and apply a pea-size amount of TONI&GUY shine gloss serum to your hands, running them through the lengths and ends of your hair to create a polished finish (and to control fly-aways!)
London Fashion Week is all about being yourself and embracing your style and identity through your clothing, so gender fluidity seemed the perfect identity to play on this season. As gender fluidity was a big theme running throughout the hair, makeup and fashion of the Faustine Steinmetz show I really wanted to commincate this throughout my clothing too. Gender fluidity is best described as a dynamic mix of both boy and girl so what screams and embraces gender fluid more than a tailored suit! (A velvet trouser suit to be exact!)
This post was made in collaboration with TONI&GUY but all words and styling are my own.
